Meet Freska!

After our incident back in April when our property was broken into, we decided that something needed to be done to up the ante on security around here.  Curtis did A LOT of research and concluded that the best use of the money we were going to spend was a dog.  Mind you, we already had two and I wasn't looking forward to having our dogs outnumber our children (o;  So, it just so happened that a sweet lady was looking for what we felt Pepper would make a perfect fit.  That solved our three dog problem.  Now came the big decision.

Curtis got to know the staff at Pet Village (out of Salem).  A family business for many years, one of the owners, Jennifer, has been training German Shepherds for the police force for quite some time.  Her and her brother work together to not only train the dogs in obedience but protection.  After Curtis explained to Jennifer our situation and what we were wanting from a dog, she decided we needed to meet Freska.   Our initial meeting went great.  We were able to see her perform which was quite impressive. It wasn't long after, that we became Freska's owners.  We decided that she would be our best security system and well worth the investment we were about to make.  And besides, she's traveling security...you can take her anywhere you go!

Brenden was here when we went and picked her up.  But beforehand, we had to do some doggy chores.  I put the boys to work scrubbing the dog houses.

Then came the big day.
Introducing Freska...

Here we are leaving the training facility

William was enamored.  He kept asking if he could be the one to hold her leash (o;
Getting to know her boys...
Of course, we've got a long ways to go to learn her ins and outs and all of the commands that she's capable of.  First things first, she has to meet her new buddy Rags.  Then (we figure after the summer's end), we'll start some advanced dog training classes (for us, not for her) so that she can get used to hearing her commands from us and not her trainer.  I know it'll be a process, but we're excited about what's to come.

 And yep, I think she'll make a good fit into our family (o;
