Guess who decided to start crawling...He's been on the verge for quite some time and finally tasted freedom (aka the ability to get somewhere without having mom pick him up and carry him there).  This kid's goin' places-literally.

Jan. 10th, 2009 What it's like being pregnant... 34 weeks 1 day

Multiple people have asked me about the uncomfortabilities of being pregnant. I figured it would make a good post... I can't say I've gotten very big. So far I've only gained 18 pounds and my belly hasn't popped out there a whole lot until really this past month. The pictures of my belly are finally starting to catch up with how I feel I look. It's crazy how fast this kid can grow now that he's got limited time left in the cooker! Along with the growing belly comes the unpleasant symptoms of pregnancy: -Of course those first 3 months weren't anything too exciting. I was overjoyed that I was pregnant (after waiting for quite some time) but could barely stand getting up in the morning. I remember getting in the shower before heading to work (when I was still working days) and just lying flat on the bottom of the tub with the shower water pelting me...I only felt good when I'd lay flat. -I haven't been able to sleep on my tummy for quite a few mon...

Scattered Joy

Just yesterday, Calvin and I were talking over the questions on a mailer he received from his "Mailbox Club" regarding creation.  We were talking about how God created us from the dust of the earth.  I could tell he was really thinking about this.  It was hard for his little mind to grasp that Adam was formed from dirt, and that when we die, our bodies return to just the same. A few weeks ago, Grandma Marsha was talking about how her and Bruce had gotten arrangements together for their cremation and had even received their urns to collect their ashes.  I remember talking briefly about spreading ashes and asking her when she wanted her spread.  Although I don't remember him being a part of it, Calvin must have overheard the conversation. This morning, random and out of the blue (Calvin style), Calvin says, "Mom!  I want my joy to be spread in lots of places!"  At first I didn't get it.  He was so excited when he said it, like he had had a sudde...

Our Summer Blues

Warning.  Long post due to many pictures.  I decided to chronicle our pickers this year in pictures.  Why?  After many months of thought and prayer, we decided awhile back that this Summer (Lord willing) would be our last Summer here at the Gant Ranch.  Not that we're rid of this place and joyful about leaving, but we have felt that God has been calling us to plant our feet elsewhere (more on that in a later post).  With a potential move in mind, this season was setting up to be an extra special one; one I wanted to remember by pictures.  So, here's our Blue Chronicled Summer...
