Moving Update and Saying goodbye to Rags

A copy of the email I wrote to friends/family post our move out date and all the different ways in which we've felt God's hand of mercy on our huge transition.

Greetings from Idaho!!
Time for another update...Lots has happened since my last email to all of you.

We finally made it out of our house so the new owners could occupy it late Monday evening. Monday was a long, hot and emotionally exhausting day. With the help of so many friends, it was easier.
*Thank you Darcey for helping clean the kitchen and even a toilet, while also knowing exactly what we needed by coming back by and surprising us with ice cream bars.
* Thank you to Guesly and Sara for coming by last minute in the evening when we knew we weren’t going to get the rest of the packing and cleaning done by the time it was dark. You were both a God send.

On top of all we had going on, our almost 16yr old border collie Rags declined over the weekend. We knew the day would come but obviously were hoping he wild make it to Idaho. We also knew another trip to Idaho would be too difficult on him and so I called the vet on Monday. Because we were headed to Idaho to unload the next day, they were able to get us in at 4:45p. Needless to say, it was difficult. We’ve had rags since he was 2 1/2 and so the boys have grown up with him. We all had a good cry as they experienced the hard part of owning a pet. We opted to cremate him and carry his ashes with us so that technically he would make it to Idaho ❤️

*Thank you Tim and Matt for completely taking over and solving the problem of getting Curtis’ planer out of the ditch after we came home from the vet (looong story).

As we exchanged keys with the new owners Monday evening, they could feel the weight we were under. They offered to pray over us of which brought my heart to tears. It was exactly what we needed. What a blessing to receive from the ones who we sold our house to. Another testament to God working through this whole transition.

Currently, we are headed back to Oregon after dropping stuff in a storage unit. Thank you Grandma Marsha for entertaining Calvin while Curtis, William and I drive the moving truck (since there is only three seats and he was more than thrilled to stay behind).  We will need to take another load next week of the stuff that the buyers allowed us to keep in one bay of the shop.

This trip has been good. Our realtor here showed us to store our travel trailer at his house when we left last time so we had a place to go and get a good nights rest and use their shower. Another blessing for sure.

The inspection on our new home went well and there was only one thing that we needed addressed before moving in.  Things are progressing forward.

Thank you for caring for our little family. If you think of us, thank God for His provision. He has proven His faithfulness over and over.

Much love,
Melissa

Because of Covid, they weren't even gonna let us all in while we put him down...
We persisted and they obliged.  It was one of those hard moments and the first time the boys have ever really experienced a death that was close to them.

We weren't the only ones who loved Ragsy Boy

Our last camping trip with Rags to LaPine over the Summer.
He went on so many camping trips with our family.

Overall, such a great rescue dog.  Little did we know when we picked him up in Estacada almost 14years ago, how close we'd get to him.  He was almost an amazing 16yrs old when he died.

We made the decision to pay for his ashes and take them to Idaho with us.  He wouldn't make it there alive, but at least he'd make it there.
