William hits the Big 1-0 !!!!

Seriously. One single blink.
If the first ten years go by this quickly, he'll be in college before I blink again.

Our Sweet William boy.  Although he's still all boy, he's definitely showing signs of growth into a young man.  Every once in awhile I'll look at him and recognize how his features of changed, how his mannerisms are a little different and when he talks, it's evident he understands more.  There's still a lot of growth yet to come, but it sure has been fun watching him.

He has and continues to love to build things.  While most kids his age have started forgetting about their lego sets, he frequently visits his lego bins to show us yet another creation he's built.  He was recently excited about a used lego set he purchased with his own $45, especially after finding out it sells for $180 new.

The timidness he so easily sunk into when he was younger, is slowly but surely becoming less and less.  There are tidbits of bravery poking through his shell of which we're proud of.  He's your typical first born, such a rule follower and super hard on himself when he can't do something well.  This in turn prevents him from wanting to try new things, simply because he might not be good at it.  I've prayed for open eyes as the opportunities arise for failure-not that any parent ever wants their kid to fail, but such a necessary and most crucial life lesson to learn how to handle it when you try something and mess up.  I know William has stretched both Curtis and I as parents in this area.  How to encourage and push without breaking a kid.  I know he'll get it.  Everything in life takes time.

All in all, we've got such a gem of a kid in William.  We couldn't be more proud.  He's such a great big brother to Calvin and I pray the bond they have continues throughout their lives.  As a mom to a son, I know the relationship will change over the years.  But for now, I'll cherish the fact that he still reaches for my hand while we're walking side by side; something that reminds me he's confident in the love we have for him and the security that brings his life.

Here's to the best William years yet to come!

Taking his friends on a zip line ride!

William's favorite dinner: steak, fruit (mangos/pineapple) and salad.

Yep, I too can hardly believe you're ten William!

Every once in awhile we get snow on his big day.  It's always fun when we do!

His big surprise: a bike with gears!

Celebrating with his class mates (Mrs. Smith's 4th/5th grade class)

Not sure when/if he'll ever outgrow his love of LEGOS.  He just loves to build and has quite the creative mind when he does.  He built this one at Grandma Marsha's house and she absolutely loved it.
