Chickens!

It's been fun watching our chicks grow into hens (and fortunately not roosters).
We moved them into their first coop outside last Oct.
Our "kit" coop with some special additions by Curtis (complete with our old shed door-painted red, that was saved when we tore it down...sorry, for some reason I didn't get a pic of the other side...).  Their run was added after this was taken.
They definitely go through that awkward teenage stage...
Check out my cheek feathers!

Today though, was a pretty special day-our first egg.

The boys were overjoyed, to say the least.  They had to take turns holding it (o;

We're pretty sure we know who it came from, since we caught her in action (with all that crazy sqwaking they do when they lay).
Meet, our Lady Hen "Pop".

Okay, I admit, I was a bit excited too.  Maybe I should have had the boys take a picture of me holding the egg?!
Here's to many more to come!
