Happy 4th Birthday Calvin!

I'll say it every time this year rolls around, but I can hardly believe he's another year older.  I'm really enjoying this stage in Calvin's life.  He's developed quite a lovable personality and is quick to give his Mama kisses and hugs (sometimes I even get a pretend bomb thrown at me..."Full of kisses to last me all day," he says).  Don't get me wrong, he has his days in need of discipline.  But, we are very thankful God decided to add Calvin to our family now 4 years ago...


All he wanted was "A smiley face birthday Mama!"  Totally fits this kid. 

Attempts at smiley face cake pops were made...Not bad for my first try.  Learned a few things and might even attempt them again!



Grandpa Terry and Grandma wondered what to get Calvin and we suggested a pinata.  He got to open it as a present and then we hung it up and broke it.  Super fun.




Auntie Lori knows little boys...She's had three of them.  No surprises that he LOVED his cape and mask (o; 


His birthday is a gentle reminder that I'm a year older too.  Because our birthday's are a day apart, I have a feeling we'll be sharing quite a few celebrations together.

Oct. 6th, 2008 We're having a... 20 weeks 5 days

...BOY!!!!! We were very pleased to see a very healthy little baby on the monitor. He clearly let us see that he was a boy despite the fact that he's facing breech right now. All systems intact, his hands have fingers and his feet have toes, and his little heart was beating about 136bpm. He weighs in at approx 14 ounces so he's already almost hit a 1 pound (they said he measured a little bigger than what was expected for my due date). He was moving around quite a bit and kept putting his hands in front of his face while we were trying to get pictures. Curtis said "This little guy doesn't know he's got the wrong family; we're all mellow." We are so thankful that everything measures out fine and that things are progressing well. We get to go in for our 3-D ultrasound Nov. 21st. Happy Birthday Mel (her birthday is today!), you're gonna be Auntie to a nephew!

Sept. 17th, 2011 30 weeks (and 2 days) with #2!

Really? 30 weeks already?! WHERE DID THE TIME GO???!!! He'll be here before we know it! Well, we just keep pluggin' along. Every day his kicks get a little stronger and the belly gets a little bigger-two blessings (you have to count them as that right?!) that remind me he's alive, well and growing. A couple of friends have had their baby's in July and Sept. and it's definitely become more of a reality that I'm next now that they have their little ones (o: We are SO excited and just so very thankful that everything is going so well. It's simply amazing to me how a woman can continue on with life so normally as their body is used as a station of creation by God to form a new human being..."amazing" doesn't even capture it...We serve an incredible God! Jan. 12th, 2012 Potty Training

We've been working with William on potty training. We started seriously thinking about it this past Summer, when he could run around naked outside and watch himself pee (in the grass and not all over the house!). He caught on pretty quickly (to the peeing part that is) and had fun picking different objects to pee on (trees, rocks, leaves...fortunately not the dogs). Then, I decided we weren't gonna push the issue until after brother was born. I'd heard all kinds of people tell me that he would likely just regress, so I figured we'd at least introduce the whole concept and pick back up after Calvin was born. Sportin' the birthday suit while we practiced outside...I'm sure the pool had plenty of pee in it too. We told William that babies like Calvin wore diapers and that he wasn't a baby anymore.
