Love Notes from Cal

Image
This kid.  He's got such a big heart and it shows in the little letters he writes now that he's gotten pretty good at communicating through writing.  The second note communicates how much he loves quality time.  He absolutely loves it when we stop and take the time to play a game with him one on one.  May we never forget that this is how he feels loved the most.

Planting with my boys

 One of the things I look forward to after a really wet spring is gardening.  My hope is that, as often as I've involved the boys in this process, that they too develop of love of the dirt.  And if not, a fascination for how God grows things from a tiny seed is what I hope they see.  They're such a little helpers and I'm thankful I get to share this with them.  I think they enjoy most, the chance to get super muddy and dirty (o;

Calvin get's Student of the Month!

This kid.  Couldn't be more proud. Not only do our boys attend a school that awards kids for their display of the Fruits of the Spirit, but they actually get chosen from their entire class to receive the award. Mrs. Gill chose Calvin for the Fruit of the Spirit of Faithfulness.  She spoke very highly of him at the school assembly and I could tell, made him beam with pride as he walked to the front to receive it. Keep it up Calvin!  Your faith will take you far...

William hits the Big 1-0 !!!!

Seriously. One single blink. If the first ten years go by this quickly, he'll be in college before I blink again. Our Sweet William boy.  Although he's still all boy, he's definitely showing signs of growth into a young man.  Every once in awhile I'll look at him and recognize how his features of changed, how his mannerisms are a little different and when he talks, it's evident he understands more.  There's still a lot of growth yet to come, but it sure has been fun watching him. He has and continues to love to build things.  While most kids his age have started forgetting about their lego sets, he frequently visits his lego bins to show us yet another creation he's built.  He was recently excited about a used lego set he purchased with his own $45, especially after finding out it sells for $180 new. The timidness he so easily sunk into when he was younger, is slowly but surely becoming less and less.  There are tidbits of bravery poking through his...

"I will not be bossy"-Cal

Image
I know one day I'll look back on this moment and smile.  The boys both are so well behaved at school that this one surprised me.  Cal's teacher informed me that he got caught talking too much and not respecting the teacher with his responses.  I'm thankful for a school that focuses on morals and takes the time to not dismiss the small moments of teaching.  These write ups that Cal did were my idea.  He took them to the teacher the next day (o;  I have to say, despite the fact that he was being disciplines here, he's developing some great penmenship!

For the love of pomegranate

Over the last year or so, William discovered pomegranates.  He loves them.  He also loves the work of dissecting and picking out the seeds.  He's definitely more patient than some!

That's a Wrap!

This little guy loves soccer.  It's been fun to watch his skill grow from last Fall till this one.  He's a fast little runner and is starting to catch onto the rules of the game (as much as a 6yr old can understand).  It's neat watching him have so much fun while playing.
