The Growing Gant Family...

We recently planted over 300 blueberry plants in our back field (I know, crazy huh?!). We caught one of the nice, sunny afternoons and went to town! We had a couple of the high schooler's from church out to help and of course...William had to get in on the action too. Not sure he actually got any planting done, but he got a healthy education on how dirt and sawdust taste! He was entertained for quite a while putting dirt in an empty blueberry container...oh, the simple joys of everything being new and exciting in life. The field... Like this mom? To William- Mom's been transitioning you to a bottle recently. As I fed you some milk tonight, your eyes slowly closed as they drifted off to sleep. I had a moment that I hope never to forget (and the reason I'm writing it here). As I looked at your peacefully sleeping face, I realized how much you've grown over this last year; how much you've changed from a tiny 6lb baby into a little boy. It made me sad and happy all at the same time. I was saddened at how quickly time has passed; how moments go by that we'll never be able to live again. You'll never be that tiny infant in my arms ever again. I was overwhelmed with joy as I thought of how much life you have ahaed of you and how thankful I am that I get to travel this journey with you. I love watching you learn, and there are so many things I want to teach you! All the while, surrounding you with the love of the Lord; a love that will never leave you no matter how many people come and go in your life. ...

My sister leaves for Japan later this month. She's contracted to teach English in some of the Japanese schools for a year. Today was the last day we would see her before she leaves to head down to CA to visit the rest of the family before she's gone to Japan. What bittersweet day. I am so excited for the new adventure in Japan that awaits her, but I still hold onto that Big sis desire to have her close. I am already thankful for Skype, as it will be our way to communicate while she's gone. Here's some pics from our day... Mar was able to join us for the day too! We know the Lord will use you mightily wherever He directs your path. May you shine brightly to the new faces you'll meet in Japan (and I hope to hear you speak a little Japanese when you return...You're bound to learn it!).
